The University of Regina is located in Regina, the provincial capital of Saskatchewan. The University traces its roots back to the founding of Regina College in 1911, a private community high school established by the Methodist Church of Canada with an initial enrollment of 27 students. At one point in its development, it became the second campus of the University of Saskatchewan, and then through continuous growth and amalgamation, it wasn't until 1974 that Regina College became an independent degree-granting college. Currently the University of Regina has the authority to grant Bachelor's, Master's and Doctoral degrees.<\/p>\n

After more than three decades of development, the University has established itself as a well-established institution. The University of Regina is now a comprehensive university with nine faculties, 25 academic departments and 13 research centers.<\/p>\n

It is because the school is located in the capital of Saskatchewan that the school's curriculum has been tailored to suit the needs of Saskatchewan, with particular emphasis on the humanities and journalism programs. The science and engineering programs have also advanced in recent years as government and industry have grown. The public service and petroleum engineering programs have attracted increasing numbers of students and international attention. Since 1992, the university has increased its funding for research from $3.4 million to $12 million. The university is also one of several national network centers engaged in intelligent robotics and intelligent systems testing. The school also collaborates with several other national research centers.<\/p>\n
